Money Advice &
Budgeting Service
In 1988 the Department of Social Welfare commissioned a report by the
Combat Poverty Agency entitled "Money lending and Low Income Families".
One of the recommendations of this report was the establishment of a Money
Advice Service to assist over-indebted families.
The basic aim of the service is to help people encountering debt problems to
manage their money and gain access to affordable credit which is available in
their local Credit Union.
What is Money Advice & Budgeting Service?
Money Advice & Budgeting Service is a free and confidential service. The
aim is to get individuals out of debt and back in control of their own
finances. They offer assurance and support, a speedy response, information
and advice. They can also negotiate with creditors. Everything is done with
the agreement of the individual involved.
